Sudan and China have agreed to boost their oil cooperation by increasing oil production, renewable energies and char coal.
Minister of Oil Dr. Awad Al Jaz at a meeting with Chinese Minister of Development and Reforms Friday in Beijing agreed to boost cooperation in the field of oil. Dr. Al Jaz invited the Chinese Minister to visit Sudan for further consultation and follow up on the agreement.
Meanwhile, the Board of Directors of Khartoum Refinery convened a meeting in Beijing where they discussed achievements of the refinery during 2011 and performance during the first half of the year 2012 besides reviewing plan for 2013.
On the sidelines of the meetings, Dr. Al Jaz met with the Chairman of China National Petroleum Company (CNPC) and the meeting focused on aspects of cooperation and ways and means to increase oil production in the country. The Minister of Oil also met with members of the Sudanese Community and staff of Sudan Diplomatic Mission in Beijing.
According to Sudan Radio, Dr. Al Jaz said he discussed with Chinese officials how to increase the capacity of Khartoum refinery and to upgrade Port Sudan and Al Obeid Refineries.
In the same vein, the Minister said the construction of a 150 km long pipeline is about to be completed from Hadida to Bileila to increase oil production and to boost oil industry in Blocks 6, 2, and 4 in Heglig. China is key partner in the two oil fields.
