Chinese oil company Sinopec has ordered a third Havyard design for an offshore support ship; an 832L SE platform supply vessel to be built at the Fujien Mawei shipyard.

Havyard is supplying the design package for the ship, its third order from Sinopec, following an AHTS delivered in 2012 and an 832 PSV which is currently in build for February 2015 delivery. The latest PSV is scheduled to be delivered in March 2016. The company says it has now sold 11 designs to China, out of some 70 worldwide.

The Havyard 832 L SE PSV is equipped for multiple applications, being prepared for an offshore crance, and having additional accommodation, which will enable it to undertake subsea work in addition to its supply role.

The 3,900dwt ship is 84.5m long, with 17.6m breadth and an 820m² deck area. It is capable of speeds up to 14 knots and can accommodate 40 personnel.

“We have established a good foothold in in China, which is important for future growth and development of our design and equipment package deliveries,” said Havyard senior vice president sales, Gisle Vinjevoll Thrane. “China has the biggest shipbuilding capacity in the world and ambitions to continue to increase their market shares. Additionally, we see that Chinese ship owners are building more advanced offshore vessels. We have a good foothold in China and are recognised by the best offshore vessel builders and the ship owning branches of the two biggest Chinese oil companies Sinopec and CNOOC.”
